How to inspect the screen
Clean the panel with the manufacturer's recommended method before starting; dust can resemble a dark pixel. Enter full screen, move through every solid color, and scan the display in a consistent pattern from a normal viewing distance.
Dead pixels and stuck pixels
A dead pixel commonly stays black because it does not emit light. A stuck subpixel may remain red, green, blue, or another fixed color. A mark visible only on one test color can indicate a subpixel issue, while a mark that changes with viewing angle may be surface contamination or panel pressure.
Before requesting service
- Take a clear photo showing the defect and surrounding area.
- Check the manufacturer's pixel-defect policy and warranty threshold.
- Do not press or rub the panel in an attempt to repair it.
- Repeat the test after reconnecting the display if the mark flickers.
