How to use the spacebar counter
Select 5, 10, or 30 seconds, focus the large test area, and press the spacebar. The first accepted press starts the timer. On touch devices, tap the same area to count without a physical keyboard. Free mode runs until you reset it.
What can affect the result?
Keyboard switch weight, key travel, keycap stability, debounce settings, hand position, and fatigue can all change tapping speed. Laptop keyboards and external mechanical keyboards should be treated as separate test conditions.
- Use short tests for peak tapping speed.
- Use longer tests to compare rhythm and endurance.
- Check the dedicated keyboard tester if presses are missed.
Privacy and accuracy
Presses are counted locally by JavaScript and are not transmitted. The page ignores held-key repeat events, so one physical press should count once. Browser shortcuts and system accessibility settings can still affect unusual keyboard configurations.
